On-farm sales involves bringing people onto the farm to buy products. This strategy includes pick your own, agri-tourism and farm markets. The information presented here is directed toward farm markets located on the farm. This is probably the oldest method of selling farm produce. Farmers have been selling produce to their neighbors since the beginning of agriculture. Farm stands run the gamut, from the back of a truck to an elaborate store. Many start out simple and become more substantial as the stand succeeds.
